Three Simple Steps To Being Successful In Business
Everything successful starts with a plan and starting a business is absolutely no exception.
It does not matter what your business is doing. You can be selling insurance or real estate, advertising, cars or even running a website that is monetized using Adsense. You must have a plan before you dive in or you will ultimately fail to achieve your goals.
We have all heard the story of that successful car salesman that sent out thank you notes, birthday cards and purchase anniversary cards to all his past clients and prospects. A simple act with a subtle sales message embedded in it that produced a ton of business and made him very successful. Of course there are scores of variations on this theme but very successful businesses follow through and continue this year after year.
Plan to contact a specified number of people every day. Break it down into types of contacts and methods. Do not make it too difficult or cumbersome. Call or email ten new contacts, existing prospects or anybody you are not currently doing business with. Talk to two new people in a public place. Preferably people you have noticed on a regular basis like shop assistants or those in your local community. Email any number of old clients with useful, helpful information about what they have already purchased from you.
In everything you do, follow up with the customer.
Always follow up current clients, with no exceptions. As any successful businessman knows, it is far cheaper to sell something more to an existing customer than it is to try to sell something to a new customer.
There is no secret to being successful. Play the part. Look successful, dress appropriately, talk like a successful person and believe you are successful, of course without being arrogant.
Keep acquiring new contacts. Make sure people know exactly what business you are in. Most probably will not buy from you, however they will talk to other people and your public awareness will grow exponentially.
Get out there and get your name spread around. Garnish your reputation with a respected name for good service and valued advice. Always remember the basics of honesty when dealing with your customers. Always ready a smile and remember to say thank you, which are two very powerful words often forgotten these days.
Running a successful business is not difficult or complicated and you should not make your plans difficult, otherwise it can get very hard to implement the plan you have decided on. You can put whatever you like in your plan. Try to keep it simple and obtainable. Always fine tune your plan or even change it, once you realize your plan is flawed.
Plan, focus, follow through —> succeed.
